ELECTROLOGIST OFFERS PERMANENT COLORING
You can have beautiful lips and eyes--permanently.
JUST ASK Annette Kaiser. She had her lips permanently lined by electrologist Christine Carter.
"I wanted color on my lips but I didn't want to have to put on makeup," Mrs. Kaiser said.
"There was no pain and no scabbing afterwards." "There is not much sensation, and I've not worked on one single person who hasn't been thrilled to death with it."
"I'm always looking for new things that come out to make my life easier because I have cerebral palsy," said Barbara Prudhomme. She had her lips lined and filled in a natural shade of pink. "Whenever I find something that helps me, I go for it. I feel great."
USING A SPECIAL tool, she also applies permanent eyeliner and eyebrows on clients. She numbs a person's lip before the process to make the process painless.
The permanent makeup technique has been around for several years but is new to Mobile. "I had to go to New Mexico to train. I was the first to do it in Mobile." She's been in the beauty business more than 20 years and is also a licensed cosmetologist and electrologist.
"DON'T WE ALL want to wake up in the morning and look good?" Ms Carter asked. "You don't have to worry about putting on eyebrows or worry about crying and having your eyeliner run."
MS. CARTER said people want permanent makeup for all kinds of reasons--from correcting fading lip lines, covering scars, or correcting coloring to the luxury of not having to put on makeup every day.
"I do the line on the eyes so it looks very natural," Ms. Carter said. "I have a consultation several weeks before with the client. We play around with pigments until we find a color we both agree on. I test for allergy to the pigment.
"I'VE HAD people ask for greens and blues on eyeliners, but I prefer to stay away from those. I use medium brown to black pigments." She uses a disposable probe for each person.
"Some people have blonde eyelashes and eyebrows and without makeup, they have no face," she said. "I do the eyebrows in a feathered way that makes it look like eyebrow hair. If one eyebrow is naturally higher than the other I can correct it."
Ms. Carter said men also seek permanent eyebrows or help for lip lines. "I do it for people for every reason and for all ages," she said. "They can look naturally beautiful. It's a positive change. Everybody has felt great after it's done."
